GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Sustainability

We are a new school interested in all ideas relating to sustainability and it is one of the big ideas within our curriculum.

Sustainability

We would like to develop as a school with a sustainable culture; one where a sustainable approach is evident in all we do.

At present we are working in the following areas:

  • Food waste
  • Tree-planting
  • Active travel plan to reduce reliance on cars
  • Offering a vegan menu
  • Green energy
  • Recycling

We recently worked alongside the University of Reading and FutureLearn, to act as a case study school for their 'Teaching Climate and Sustainability in Primary Schools: An Outdoor Learning Approach' course. The staff and children shared the approach that we are developing at Floreat Montague Park towards climate and sustainability education through outdoor learning. The trailer for the course and clips from the filming can be seen below:
