GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

James Newling-Ward

James has been a primary teacher since 2006 after graduating from St Mary's College in Twickenham where he completed a Primary Education course. After teaching for 2 years James joined the Army and was a commissioned Officer. During his time in the Army he worked in a variety of environments delivering training, education and specialist courses to a huge audience. 


He returned to teaching in 2013 and worked in a British School in Seoul, South Korea. Following this he moved closer to home and taught in an international school in Milan, Italy. He then found himself in Bracknell, where he taught in Year 2 for 6 years. He lives there with his wife and two young children. His passion for travelling is something he hopes to continue and share with his children.

James loves teaching all areas of the curriculum, enabling all children to find their love of learning. James enjoys a range of sports and activities and has taken part in Tough Mudder and Spartan races, mountain bike races, played rugby, ran half marathons and hacks his way around a golf course. He enjoys the challenge, competition, teamwork and healthy benefits that are to be gained from physical activity.
