At Floreat Montague Park, we adopt a thematic approach to teaching across all subject areas, where possible. We dedicate mornings to English and Maths, ensuring the relevant theme is woven throughout the school day.
While the emphasis is on reading, writing, speaking, listening and mathematics, we offer the best of the National Curriculum and more, with thematic project work helping to bring learning to life, by putting it into a broader context.
Teachers produce half termly Curriculum Overviews detailing the key learning for that half term. They can be viewed on the relevant Year Group page.
The Big Ideas
At Floreat Montague Park, we have identified six key ideas and concepts that we call our big ideas:
The children will encounter these ideas and concepts throughout their time in school within their classroom learning, assemblies and wider enrichment opportunities. This means that they will have a deeper understanding of the ideas as they have considered them within different contexts.
